Hi friend! Back when I did my post on finding Bible journaling inspiration -along with a flip-through of one of my Journaling Bibles- I got a bunch of requests to do a tutorial on my “purple page” that tended to stand out in that flip-through. It has taken me a few weeks! But I got to it!
This page- I call it my wisteria-esque page- is actually a lot easier than it looks! We are just going for the impression of wisteria, instead of trying to paint it exactly as it looks in real life. So, there are no super defined shapes. I love to use pages like this as a practice in letting go of perfection.
It can be hard not to want to create the perfect shape for all the petals, But what really makes this page fun is just smooshing your brush on the page, lifting it up, and seeing/ accepting the shape that it made!
Just like as people and Christians, we are full of imperfections. We all have some marks where we don’t want them, some hard edges, and some parts we don’t love. But as a whole, with the grace of Jesus, we are beautiful and full of character! And no matter what flaws we have, the Lord has a steadfast love for us.
Psalm 117- “Praise the Lord, all Nations!” Extol him, all peoples! For great is his steadfast love toward us, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!”
Of course, everyone has their own style, and if you do want to create more defined petals, all power to you! I encourage you to use my tutorial as a base, and do your own thing! Change up colors, shapes, lines, etc.
I also want to point out, that if you don’t have an Interleaved Bible like the one I used (it has full blank pages,) and you want to stay inside the margins so as not to cover the texts; by all means, you can still use this technique! You can scale it down to one branch, or can use a smaller brush and create a smaller version all together!
So with no further ado, the tutorial video is below. Let’s get Bible journaling!
