A couple of weeks ago I did a Bible journaling page of a watercolor landscape based on a skillshare class by Zaneena Nabeel (@aurorabyz on Instagram.)
In her class, she taught how to paint a bunch of watercolor landscapes and this one was my favorites, so I decided to give it a shot in my Bible, simplifying some things as I saw fit!
I really loved how the page turned out, but I went back and forth on whether or not I should do a video on it. You see, I try to keep my tutorials pretty simple so that anyone will be encouraged to try it. And this page is a little more advanced. After asking my Instagram followers what they thought I realized that some slightly harder tutorials can be helpful too!
I do believe that trying things outside of our current skill set is the only way we can learn and grow further!
And here’s the thing, this watercolor landscape looks intimidating, but it really is very doable!
So if you are a beginner and feel unsure about being able to do this one, I really want to encourage you to give it a shot!
Remember, because we are Bible journaling, there should be no pressure! Bible journaling is not about creating the greatest piece of art! It is all about spending time in the word and worshiping him. Using art to glorify him! So no matter what you create, it will be beautiful in the eyes of the Lord!
The Tutorial
Alright, now that I’ve hopefully convinced you to watch and try this Bible Journaling With Me tutorial, go ahead and check it out below!
Notes
-The tricky part for me was translating the tutorial that used watercolor paper into my journaling Bible. While I do love using watercolors for Bible journaling, because the Bible pages are so smooth and thin they react very differently in the Bible than they do on normal watercolor paper. But, with a few tweaks, a paper towel at hand, and no expectations, it is totally doable!
-I used my ESV interleaved Journaling Bible, which has full blank pages, but if you don’t have this Bible you can choose to do this scaled-down in the margin, or over the text (since it’s watercolor, as long as you keep your layer of paint fairly light you can still read the text). Or you can do it on a separate sheet of paper and make a tip-in out of it, or do it in a separate notebook or paper completely. Lots of options!
