Hi friends! Normally at this time of year I’m like “can you believe it’s almost Thanksgiving?!”.. but 2020… I think all of us feel like this year has dragged.
Yet, there’s still a lot of good, and God is good, and there is so much to be thankful for.
I decided to work on 1 Chronicles 16:34 which says, “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.” (ESV)
Since Thanksgiving (for us in the U.S.) is this week I thought it would be fun to tie that verse to something that makes me think of Thanksgiving… PIE!
I had never painted a pie before! Of course, my first thoughts were to do a pumpkin or pecan or apple pie, but I just didn’t think those would look as pretty as a cherry pie, haha. So I painted a cherry pie with a classic lattice top- I encourage you to have fun with this idea and make it your own though!
I used watercolors, but you could absolutely use colored pencils or your favorite medium for this idea.
Honestly, painting this pie was a little trickier than I expected, but I made a sketch beforehand that helped a TON. I think the key to this page is the shading, which the printable really helps to show.
I am making my pie sketch available to you for free! It’s my way of letting you know that I am thankful for you!

The Tutorial
This week’s video isn’t so much of a tutorial as it is just me painting and chatting. I do share some helpful tips and a fun fact that I learned in culinary school though;)
I hope you enjoy!
