I love painting with q-tips. They are easy to use, cheap, and they bring this element of child-like fun to painting.
Today’s tutorial shows how to paint lilacs simply with q-tips!
I used watercolor, but you could do the same thing with acrylics or even stamps!
The verse that I worked on was 1 Peter 8-9 which says: “Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (The lilacs don’t really have anything to do with the verse, I just thought they would be pretty haha.)
The Tutorial
So let’s get to it. This tutorial is a lot of fun so I hope you enjoy it and give it a shot yourself!
Notes
-I do not prep my pages with the supplies I use and do not have any bleed-through. Find out more about my eight favorite supplies HERE.
-I did go over the scripture a bit on this page. I can almost always still read the text underneath watercolors, but this page is a bit harder to read. I personally don’t mind because I keep this Bible just for art worship and have other Bibles I read and study from. But, this is completely a personal decision! If you don’t want to go over the scripture, you can scale the lilacs down, or paint them on a separate sheet of paper and make a tip-in out of it.
