Bible Journaling With Household Objects- Part One- Forks!

Hi friend,

I am a big believer that you don’t need fancy supplies to do Bible journaling! So today I am starting a little series on using household objects to create easy Bible journaling pages. Today I am using FORKS!

There is actually a surprising amount of designs that you can create with a fork and some paint! Today I am just going to give you a few ideas, but I encourage you to have fun with it yourself!

One of my favorite things about using a fork is that you don’t have much control over where the paint goes- which means you have to let go of perfectionism and just enjoy the process! I think it is so important to allow ourselves to create imperfect and messy pages every now and then, because it can get so easy to get caught up in creating the perfect art, that we forget our true purpose to Bible journaling, which is to worship God!

Crosshatch Pattern

For this first idea, I have a quick video! I created a page in under 10 minutes just by dipping the tongs on my fork in acrylic paint and then pressing it onto the page, turning my fork each time to create horizontal and vertical lines.

Now, I only used one color paint, but one easy way to switch this up would be to add other colors. Or, try changing the length of your lines. Maybe go in all kinds of directions instead of only horizontal and vertical! Have fun!

Dots

Next, using your fork to create dots is super easy, quick, and fun! Cover your page, or use it as an accent or extra texture along with printables, stamps, stickers, etc.!

Simply dip the tip of your fork in the paint (acrylics work best) and gently press in to your page over and over again. You can keep your dots in rows or be more haphazard about it! Keep in mind, that using a fork isn’t going to give you the most uniform dots, but that half the fun!

Stripes

Another way that you can paint with a fork is by creating stripes! Dip the prongs about an eighth of an inch in the paint  (though how far to dip may take a few practice swipes) and then slowly scrape your fork in a straight line. You can make these long or small, and of course, change up the colors. Create more rows as you feel!

You can do your whole page with this neat pattern, or maybe use it to dress up just the edge of the page!

Zig Zag

This fourth idea was the trickiest, so you may want to try it out on a separate sheet of paper first. To create a zig-zag pattern, dip the fork about as far as you would to make the stripes. Then press down the tip of the fork, and slowly move the fork up or down at an angle. Pick up your fork, re-dip, and do it again in the opposite direction.

You may also want to add some water to your paint, as a more fluid paint works best for this!

I hope you enjoyed these simple ideas!
